FOUNDATION AGILITY CLASS
Foundation Agility Puppies and Foundation Agility Dogs
Both Foundation Agility classes are introduction classes that focus on how the handler and dog become a team to progress safely in agility. The focus is on developing basic handling skills such as the dog working on both sides of the handler and the handler crossing in front of the dog, behind the dog, sending the dog ahead, and working at a distance from the dog. Handlers will learn how to use positive reinforcement to get behaviors needed to navigate obstacles on a course such as: attention, movement, impulse control, building drive, dealing with distractions, etc. Depending on the skill levels of the teams, there may be an introduction to jumps and tunnels. Basics of contacts may be discussed but will not be a major focus at this level. Lots of soft treats will be used. Harnesses that do not impede the dog's movement are preferred over collars. Maximum 6 teams per class.
